Thom Browne brought Malibu Barbie back to life on Monday at #NYFW
The classic Mattel dolls walked the SS ’17 ramp in vintage textiles and gingham prints, their faces a tanned orange. Their lips painted in unnatural but appealing shades of mint and sky blue. Yet there was something so 2017 about it. Beach-like prints and textures thrown together, tastefully of course, with vintage ones to create mixed media fabrics. Seams were outlined in black tape, very similar to the piping and taping we’ve seen repeatedly through the season. It felt futuristic.
