Stockholm Fashion Week Fall 2017 Highlights
Stockholm Fashion Week is a standing appointment, twice a year, since its birth in 2005 and today it is the leading fashion week in the North Europe, a region that has a strong aesthetic identity.
The Fall 2017 collections have been presented between January 29 and 31 in the heart of the Sweden capital.
The fashion week opened with the Fall 2017 collection by Naim Josefi named “Gangs”. The creations are a homage to Yves Saint Laurent and his 60’s art-inspired designs. The collection was all about denim, diverse shapes of jeans and satin details. The colour palette is cold (grey, blue, black) and extremely charming.
Emelie Janrell designed “Coupe de Grâce”, a collection that is a meditation on the female body. The garments are decorated with embroidered pearls, shells and gems. Lively and vibrant colours.
Über-woman on the runway for Redebjer. The creations are fierce as the hand that designed them, eclectic and layered. Oversized outwear, floor-length pants and a floral explosion. The colour palette ranges from dark tones to bright ones.
Busnel Fall 2017 collection is designed for a multi-sided woman, who can feel comfortable wherever she goes. The garments have diverse volumes and silhouettes: it is all about contrasts. Even the fabrics are mixed, from cashmere to silk, from cotton to jacquard.
The Fall 2017 collection designed by Hukydory has 70’s rock vibes: it is eccentric and it is a mix of references, bohemian age and militarism, streetwear and classy style. Deconstructed denim, nylon bomber and furry jackets.
House of Dagmar, starting from the abstract paintings of the Austrian artist Svenja Deininger, shaped the woman of the next Fall 2017.
Valerie collection grabbed inspiration from the 80’s and the characters of sci-fi and horror movies of that time. It is strong and assertive. The colour palette sees warm colours (orange, red) and cold ones (blue, light-blue and shades of black).
“Timmervik” is the name of the Stylein Fall 2017 collection designed by Elin Alemdar. It is a minimal and honest collection, purely Scandinavian.
Joan Lindeberg with her Fall 2017 collection celebrates her 20th year anniversary since her first one. She presented a dymanic collection for her namesake brand (J.Lindeberg) depicting a women in a powerful position. No theme for this season but only a focus on craftmanship and on the DNA of the brand (sportwear and chic).
“Belladonna of sadness” is the last collection by Ida Sjöstedt. It is a dark tale made of tulle and black embroidered gowns.
Hope, among all the brands on the runway at Stockholm Fashion Week, is the one who has the most political message behind its Fall 2017 collection. It is inspired by student activism and civl rights riots (Black Panter Party). The design process went along with a meditation on the community and the individual. Oversized silhouette, nylon polo neck and windbreakers.
