A practical suggestion on how to face future challenges

How can designers face the challenging times following Coronavirus global outbreak? FeericFashionWeek’s Vice President Landiana Cerciu (@landianayolo) offered designers an extremely insightful solution on her social media accounts, and we would like to have the pleasure to share it with you.

We live in strange times and as all my activities, and FeericTeam projects, are related to fashion, we face the same difficult situation. Our future in fashion depends of each designer’s businesses so I want to share a possible solution for the designers to cross this crisis in a sustainable way as well.
What shall you do:
1) Offer your customers the possibility to buy at bigger discounts if they send you back an old item they bought from you in the past. It is kind of a buyback process. For example instead of 30% give 50% to all customers that send you back one old item.
2) If the item you will get back looks good, clean it and put it for sale.
3) If the item you will get back doesn’t look good, use your creativity and the fabric leftovers in your atelier to upcycle it and then put it for sale
4) Create a section on your website and call it as you like (recycled, upcycled, second hand etc.) and sell there all these items at very small prices.
This way you stimulate people to continue buying from you.
People that admired your design and could not afford it so far will get the chance to buy recycled items.
Giving an item a second life is a responsible action that in the end reduces pollution.
Your clients appreciate the bigger discount.
You gain new customers.
Your loss is smaller as you don’t “lose” anything else than fabric leftovers and creativity.
In the end, you will sell and your business will go on. In this way, we will all have a future in fashion. I hope this to help you and I will be glad for the feedback or questions about this.
Good luck.

Thank you Landiana!
