May 4th – September 4th, 2017: Rei Kawakubo and her creations to be shown at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Met (Metropolitan Museum of Art) in New York is going to inaugurate on May 4th an exhibiton dedicated to Rei Kawakubo and her brand, founded in 1969, Comme Des Garçons. Andrew Bolton, cutator of the Costume Institute, and Anna Wintour, editor in chief of Vogue US, who every year work together to build up always outstanding and incredible installations, choosed the Japanese designer to be the subject of the upcoming one.
She has a strong vision and a point of view on how the garments interact with the body; she is a silent intellectual, yet assertive woman and, looking at her archives this is absolutely clear. The Metropolitan Museum is going to be the platform where the creations designed for decades by Rei Kawakubo for Comme des Garçons will be presented, the creations of an anti-fashion icon who is always in fashion.
