25th february – 5th March
After New York, London and Milan with the most remarkable Made-in-Italy brands, the last step of the Fashion Month will successfully end in style with Paris.
Generally considered to be the grande dame of the fashion weeks for its long duration and its series of events, this time Paris Fashion Week occurs at just the right moment to see the city’s windows filled up with flowers and “adieu” notes for the great designer it just lost, beside lots of special events in Karl’s honor to celebrate his great contribute in fashion history. As an example, William Klein’s photography exhibition will pay tribute to the fashion icons he has photographed as from the 50’s, from Coco Chanel to – of course – Karl Lagerfeld.
The fashion world can’t keep from wondering what Chanel will have in store for the first show without Kaiser Karl: no wonder the chosen successor is Virginie Viard – Karl’s right-hand for more than 30 years – who will showcase her Fall 2019 collection on the 5th of March at Grand Palais.
The Fashion Week started on the 25th of February and it is expected to close the Womenswear Fall 2019 Ready-to-Wear season on the 5th of March 2019. Paris will play host to the major brands: Christian Dior, Saint Laurent, Rochas, Balenciaga, Valentino, Givenchy. And again, Vivienne Westwood, Comme des Garçons, Hermès, Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton and far beyond.
Among the new talents, Rok Hwang is a South-Korean designer to keep an eye on (with his label Rokh), who made himself know for his oversize, imperfect and deconstructed fashion, after having worked beside Phoebe Philo at Céline and won the LVMH Prize in 2018. Far more other brands ready to speak up are worth following, let’s wait and see what Paris Fashion Week has in store for us!
