The Fall/Winter 2018 collection
As a political dispute climax gains ground on the Milanese background, Luke and Lucie Meier are casting a glimpse to the future. And they want to give an optimistic view of it, through their Fall/Winter 2018 co-ed format collection.
“It’s a collection about the future, but in a human, warm, comforting way. When you read the news, it sounds like everything is going downhill, and it’s going to be terrible,” said Lucie. “We want to make ourselves feel good about the future and think about it in a positive way.”
The common notion of what the future will be is put on the foreground. “It’s not just machinery,” said Luke backstage. “We’re surrounded by technology and AI and all these things that are always in the news and in the consciousness. We thought, ‘Why can’t the future be beautiful, soft and human also?’”
The house’s minimalist codes are acquiring a futuristic appearance, through a meticulous cut detailing and a puristic precision.
The whole thing is expressed through a full use of tactile and organic-looking fabrics that look extremely soft to the touch. The volumes are constructed wrapped around the body in order to envelop it; an idea of protection and comfort is conveyed.
Knitwear pieces have wide and egg-shaped volumes: hips are amplified, then the volumes gently taper progressively to come in elastic stretch hems, generating twisting asymmetries.
