In the juncture of tradition and innovation
There’s consistency in the idea which repeats and recomposes itself throughout Iceberg’s Fall 2024 collection seen the past few days on the Milan catwalks. The will to explore the different possibilities of faux leathers, knitwear and tweed retraces a common thread from start to finish, and stays true to the Italian brand’s fresh and contemporary rock’n’roll identity.
For the 50th anniversary of the brand, creative director James Long draws fully from the Maison’s archives to reinvent the pillars of today’s urban wardrobe, with a focus on outerwear and knitwear so dear to the brand.
Reversible coats – made in faux leather doubled in wool – go hand in hand with tailored blazers altered in unusual details, such as leather lapels and sleeves, or abrupt raw cuts. The biker jacket with fringed details blends, within the same garment, with warmer wools in the traditional tartan and herringbone patterns, an evident homage to the designer’s British roots.
The white coat came unexpectedly because of its knitwear structure, on which colorful weft and warp threads are woven together to recompose the very structure of tweed, in an exquisitely handcrafted and artisanal approach. And finally: the fine chiffon skirts are “soiled” by fake harnesses in leather and metallic eyelets, that redesign the hemline and the split of the garment.
Assertive and playful, sharp yet soft at the same time, avant-garde yet faithful to its past: in the juncture of tradition and innovation, Iceberg finds its personal solution of longevity.
“ICEBERG is always optimistic and full of positive energy. That’s been the Iceberg way since the very first collections, and it is my pleasure to celebrate its 50th anniversary, referencing the archives to look towards the future,” affirmed creative director James Long.
