Alberta Ferretti – Close-up Women Cruise&Resort 2020 – Montecarlo
Seaside Practicality encounters Femininity
Dovetailing with the 10th anniversary of Chambre Monégasque de la Mode, the 7th edition of Montecarlo Fashion Week took place in the principality on French Riviera, aiming at encouraging the local fashion and the Made-in-Monaco creativity.
This edition was particularly devoted to the “green” turn that the luxury field – with fashion in the lead – must and wants to undertake, in order to promote a positive change, which is necessary and inevitable at this point to save the future of our planet. Sustainability was intended not only in terms of reducing toxic substances and massive discards in fashion, yet also concerning the improvement in working conditions.
A great supporter of ethical fashion is Alberta Ferretti – none other than the special guest of the event- who unveiled her Cruise 2020 collection, alongside an eco-sustainable capsule lineup she conceived with accurately selected materials: the clothing pieces are provided with certificates proving the employment of organic textiles and recycled fibres, as well as the reduction of chemical substances used during the production processes.
The sea and its depths was the inspirational source for her new creations, with its colours, the movements of waves and the fluidity of water: an evanescent consistency in marine chromatisms, with seascape prints and suggestions materialized into lightweight, airy evening gowns with which Ferretti goes on telling a refined, romantic novel. A dream which was crowned by the final look, made of a mermaid gown with a hail of mother-of-pearl mosaics.
Yet, strong women are the muses and addressees of her collections: for some seasons now, the brand at the head of the Aeffe company is exploring a new aesthetic for contemporary women, releasing the nostalgia for the past and rather grounding its spirit in the grit, dynamism and strength of modern femininity. The poetical character acquires then a daywear practicality declined in simple cuts: linear cabans, daring red leather pieces, sharp trenchcoats, safari jackets with a masculine imprint, polo shirts and shorts, also blended with the feminine delicacy of fluctuating volants, lace, rouches and Victorian collars. A navy mood is added in the double-breasted blazers, while eyelets from the sailing world are disseminated as embellishments on suede pieces. As accessories, nothing more comfortable than the cross body bags, letting the arms free for any activity and contributing to convey an active and sporty attitude.
