All hail Alexander Wang

Wang’s latest collection is a riot if you ask me. The collection started with inappropriate office wear, the kind you would fantasize about. The classic button up shirt restyled into cropped blouses, casual pyjama shorts, and a wrap dress that would result from borrowing your honey’s button up shirt post sex. Each garment so carefully manipulated to create each look, each look sexier than the last. The typical office jackets made the runway with black lace trims and printed rose linings. And the repeating details were the thin straps wrapped around the midriff in a criss-cross pattern, because what’s sexier than bondage?

Then, to my horror, came ripped jeans and jean jackets. I still cannot swallow how this trend trickled up into the high fashion runway. Closely followed by edgy prints, animalier jackets, and hints of neon. No sex inspired collection is complete without leather and Alexander Wang understood that. Leather garments were complimented by belt-like straps of handbags. Chunky chains also made the cut. Sequences and mesh-like fabrics graced us with their appearance once again this season. Some of the more neon looks from the collection were a miss for me personally, but Wang brought it home with his variations on the classic LBDs.
