Big bold shoulders on the parisian runways: from Balenciaga to Chanel
It all began few seasons ago when Demna Gvasalia started to re-think the Balenciaga silhouette. The Georgian designer, creative director of the brand founded by Cristobal Balenciaga back in 1919, mixed the precision and the rigour that are part of the DNA of the maison with his original vision on streetwear. The same approach has been adopted by Gvasalia also while designing his collections for Vetements: the result is in both cases a sleek version of streetwear.
The trend went viral, first on the ready-to-wear catwalks up to the Haute Couture ones. This season Karl Lagerfeld created new volumes for the Chanel Fall 2017 Couture Collection and the big emphasis was on the big shoulders.
