Valentino and the Hip-Hop culture: Resort 2018 Collection
Thanks to Pier Paolo Piccoli, Valentino is changing shapes every season, going beyong borders never crossed before. Italian roots and international fame, Valentino presents his new Resort 2018 collection in Soho, New York City, in an loft under renovation. And so is the brand: in a city that is constantly changing, in a time of transition, Valentino’s metamorphosis is taking place.
Hip-Hop culture is the main reference for the new collection, after the big success of The Get Down, the tv series by Baz Luhrman, and other collections seen in the past months. Diversity is the key word on the runway.
After seeing the rebel side of Valentino on the menswear catwalk in Paris a few months ago where Jamie Reid collaborated for some prints on sweaters and coats (see the Menswear Fall 2017 collection), this time Piccioli chosed Zandra Rhodes, punk artist and fashion designer, to be part of the creative process designing playful motifs on the garments.
