Designing the working class: Yohji Yamamoto Fall 2017 at Paris Men’s Fashion Week

Yohji Yamamoto, one of the members of the Japanese deconstructivism movement, reflected on construction and manufacturing in his last Fall 2017 collection presented during Paris Men’s Fashion Week. The gartments (and the make up of the models) showed the physical effort and the pain of an entire working class. We saw camo prints on the clothes: the designer wanted to link working to a battle. Silk jacquards, draped capes and bohemian shapes on the catwalk.
