Uma Wang designs for the graceful but fierce warrior goddess

The Shanghai-bred designer’s SS ’17 collection had an uninhibited and post-apocalyptic warrior aesthetic, very unlike the ballet-inspired SS ’16 collection. The colour palette was neutral and safe. Loosely draped silhouettes carried city ruin prints, perhaps sceneries from her hometown. But it wasn’t typical at all. You can see influences of her origin without it defining her signature aesthetic. And elongating vertical stripes paired with long hemlines were tactful.
