An introspective view through Elizabethan craftsmanship
Launched in London and Paris at LONDONshowROOMS, Nabil Nayal‘s largest collection to date is a new interpretation of his own archives, with a strongly introspective approach through the shades of color BLUE.
A captivating shooting takes us to a sinister place, where the silhouette of a dress stands out in the midst of darkness. The Elizabethan craftsmanship being the designer’s greatest obsession, the camera lingers on the dramatic construction of Nabil’ fashion, the majestic proportions and the fascinating detailing: delicate lace, pleated tulle, balloon sleeves, translucent explosions of fabrics which look like almost weightless. More consistent accordion pleats succeed each other in countless shades of blue and white, originating wearable sculptures in the form of bell-silhouette skirts, bolero jackets, collars and sleeve cuffs, hooded printed coats, all elements with a common rétro aesthetic.
Nabil Nayal is a Syrian-born designer, who moved to England at the age of 14. His path in the field of fashion proved to be in constant ascent, as he was enabled to study at the Royal College of Art thanks to many prestigious awards, like the Royal Society of Arts Award, the Graduate Fashion Week “Best Womenswear” Award and the British Fashion Council MA Scholarship Award. Nabil has been a finalist for the LVMH Prize in 2017, and a recipient of the British Fashion Council, Fashion Trust Grant in 2018 and 2019.
In September 2018, with his namesake brand, Nabil Nayal delivered his debut presentation on the official London Fashion Week schedule and continues to produce seasonal collections alongside leading the MA Womenswear Fashion Design Technology course at the London College of Fashion.
