19th-25th february
Milan Fashion Week gets underway in the evening of 19th february in the Italian fashion capital, with Benetton‘s show that is going to strike up the band of the week including 60 fashion shows and 173 presentations. It’ll be a real tour de force, that will see the Milanese major brands as Prada, Fendi, Moschino, Versace, Roberto Cavalli and Ferragamo showcasing their Womenswear Fall 2019 collections, alongside Gucci – that is coming back to Milan after the Parisian parenthesis – and Maison Margiela, with the MM6 line for the first time showcased in Milan in 30 years.
Bottega Veneta boasts a new creative direction with Daniel Lee, Phoebe Philo’s right-hand chez Céline, who chose a temporary pavilion at Arco della Pace where to hold the fashion show, while Giorgio Armani‘s show is guaranteed at the Armani Silos with a co-ed collection.
Alongside the old names, new talents are emerging in the Milanese fashion panorama: Marco Rambaldi is a standing out designer who won “Next Generation” contest in 2014 organized by Camera della Moda.
Alexandra Moura is instead a Portuguese designer who reinterprets the romantic and melancholy typical of Portugal through a playful artistic vision.
A very promising fashion show will be the one designed by Au197Sm, a high tech couture brand that is having its debut in Milan. Its name coming from the chemical symbol of the only stabile isotope of gold, the brand is led by Stefano Maccagnani, who experiments a blend between technology and tailoring, ultrasound weld joints, golden textiles and futuristic shapes.
