On catwalk, a rodeo of modern Amazons
On 26th May 2018, the center of the Grandes Écuries du Domaine de Chantilly was converted into the location for the much expected Dior Cruise SS19 fashion show.
A feminine rodeo opened the show, composed by modern escaramuzas riding their horses and wearing the traditional clothing of Mexico. Real Amazons of nowadays, with athletic bodies, they were the muses of Maria Grazia Chiuri, that conceived the new Dior collection inspired by their femininity – and feminist attitude. It’s a matter of freedom: they’re free to wear what they want, holding on to their personality with grit and determination.
The fashion show followed: a jubilation of frilled bell-silhouette skirts made of tulle, worn with a pair of white cotton trousers as the escaramuzas traditional clothing, and the 50’s-influenced Bar Jacket in leather. Chiuri made full use of the Chantilly lace, also revisiting the Toile de Jouy, here with monkeys and snakes, alongside exotic embroideries and tigers on white coats.
The artisanal touch couldn’t miss: hand-paintings are on studded jackets, with the word Diorodeo that explicits the essence of the Spring/Summer 2019 Cruise collection.
Other outfits from the lineup: wide leg trousers and masculine shirts with tie à la garçonne.
The straw hats were designed and realized once again by the millinery expert Stephen Jones, that explored the fabulous universe of M. Dior’s archive in order to give the perfect final touch at the collection.
