A relaxed and refined tailored FW18 collection
It’s about a resurgence of the American craftsmanship, and an intriguing blend between the Savile Row tailoring know-how and a downtown New York aesthetic.
Named one of the GQ’s Best New Menswear Designers, Todd Snyder is pulling for a look that in his press notes he defined as a “smart slacker vibe that’s part aesthete, part athlete”.
His Fall-Winter 2018 collection mixes indeed refined impeccable tailored pieces with a relaxed and comfortable sporty component, in a recurring wide silhouette.
“It’s like being a chef. I know the ingredients; it’s just how you mix them to create a new dish.” A dish he knows quite well, given that Todd is pushed by the belief that well-made, perfectly fitted clothes make the man. The recipe ingredients are refined woolen twills, corduroy and velvet, herringbone tweeds; even though he never pushes the envelope in avant-garde silhouette researching.
Versatility is in the smart suiting, woolen coats and shearling jackets, mixed with denim -the informal fabric since the very beginning-, hooded sweatshirts, drawstrings at the waistline and ribbed elastic cuffs. A retro touch is in the grandpa woolen cardigans and floral prints spread over shirting. The constant athleisurewear is realized thanks to the collaboration with the brand Champion.
