London Menswear Fashion Week, the SS19 collection

London‘s Spring/Summer 2019 Menswear catwalks witnessed a renovation of the neo punk aesthetic, that is here explored through extremely contemporary lens. Named after the 20th century American heavyweight champion, the brand John Lawrence Sullivan is known for its innovation, for reimagining traditions anew, mixing heritage fabrics with subcultural inspirations.

Behind the scenes of the latest Menswear collection, who holds the reins is the designer Arashi Yanagawa; the Japanese-born talent drew inspiration from the real life antiheroes of the late 70’s underground punk scenes, conjugating them with the New Wave bands – like Depeche Mode.

Uniforms of black leather trousers and biker jackets, alongside sharp-shouldered angular tailoring, are reinterpreted through modern canons and combined with washed denim and high-shine PVC. Midriff-baring tops are cropped and compensated with longline leather coats and oversized volumes.

Underground elements are harmoniously fused with contemporary tailored suiting for a formal and tough look coherent with a provoking attitude.
