New York, the Fall/Winter 2018 collection

Impossible not to think about Mariano Fortuny‘s Delphos dress, when seeing the latest collection designed by Jason Wu.

Pleated fine fabrics are disseminated through the Fall/Winter 2018 collection, declined in waisted dressed, tailored jackets and longline coats. A technique which is also applied on midriff cut-out outfits, looking for a modern look, and applied in shades of sapphire, aquamarine and emerald green. Twisting volumes are constructed in order to follow the body shapes, and precious silk contributes in giving a fluid effect in the slightly loose silhouettes.

The entire collection is enlivened by an intriguing contrast between layering volumes and asymmetries, against rigour and accuracy; the result is certainly refined, yet a little unoriginal.

In addition, the interest in Ettore Sottsass and Michele De Lucchi jewelry pieces pushed the Taiwanese designer to call up a collaboration with the Italian architects and industrial designers: the outcome was in a rain of architectural Swarovski and strass applied on skirts, sweaters, dresses or fine ropes that tighten the lady-looking coats at the waistline.
