Futuristic vintage pervades the New York Fall 2018 catwalks

Coherent with the pop approach he has been keeping for 20 years of career in fashion, for his namesake label Jeremy Scott designed a new collection for Fall/Winter 2018 in a spirit of a futuristic vintage.

He’s looking at the future with the eyes of the past, and the result is a funny-fashion lineup made of science fiction referencies combined with an 80’s aesthetic.

A rainbow of cybernetic colours is brought into play, beside shimmering neon effects and mirroring materials compositions.

Cropped jackets are provided with bustier seams; terry tracksuits, spacey skirts and silver foil contraptions are only some few features of the collection. Cartoon references are unfailing in Jeremy’s fashion, giving the collections a pop character, as well as patchworks and candy-coloured elements.

The aim? Jeremy knows his part very well, explaining backstage before his show: “We have so much serious stuff to deal with every freaking day. I realized my role now more than ever is to bring some levity and some joy more than anything. That’s my protest. Bringing happiness, bringing joy. I think that’s the ultimate protest.”
